History

Andersville is famous for its growth from a small suburb of Electric City to one of Hugowinston's largest cities. The city originally started as a small town on the southwestern outskirts of Electric City. The town was known locally for its diverse culture and lifestyle, which attracted various local businesses in many different fields. Eventually, by 1941, the town was one of the most prominent suburban culture centers of Electric City. Just west of then downtown Andersville (today Old Andersville), new office developments were being built in the Terrace neighborhood of Anderville, which eventually seceded from Andersville and was incorporated as its own town. At the same time, in the Den neighborhood just east of Andersville which also eventually seceded and incorporated itself as its own town, new hotels and office complexes were being built. The town of Nanofig to the northwest was also rapidly growing, and served as a major competitor in development with Andersville. In a short period of time, Terrace, Anderville, and Den were attracting business like magnets, and in 1951, the city finally decided to fund a huge project to build a new high-rise complex, called New Anderville, just north of downtown. These buildings would contain a 72-story residential tower (now called Andersville Tower), a 30-story hotel (now called Andersville Hotel), and a 55-story office building (now called BHW Place). Nearby, the rapidly growing town Nanofig decided to compete with Andersville by building a 53-story tower called the Nanofig Tower. New Andersville ran the city completely bankrupt, so baldy that the mayor decided to resign his position, and George Phillip Atrimas, a local architect, decided to take over. The city's growth quickly ran the city out of bankruptcy, with Nanofig slowly behind them, and both cities over the next 20-years grew very rapidly, both adding more and more high-rise developments into their skyline. In 1971, Andersville was officially incorporated as a city, and when Howard David Quinceddy became mayor, he sought huge upgrades to Andersville's freeway system, public transportation system, and infrastructure. He launched three programs: one to annex all suburban localities near Anderville as well as the rapidly growing Cherokee City/Scatterton/Twenty-Three area into the city, another was to build three new freeway serves various areas of the city, and lastly one to improve all infrastructure and public transportation as well as miscellaneous accommodations. These improvements were proven successful for the city. Today, the city continues to grow rapidly, as it continues to attract more business to the city. High-rise developments are appearing in suburban areas as well, escpecially Terrace, Queen, Fountain, Den, and a new edge city near Limits Hwy. called South Anderville.
